DIRT-STAINED ROSES is a multiplatform media company committed to innovation, visibility, and social justice. Established in 2021, the company highlights marginalized voices through film, TV, books, and stage plays in hopes of promoting underrepresented stories.
To foster new voices, DSR has launched the DSR Scholarship Program, Internship & Mentorship Initiative, DSR Reading Program, and a Screenwriting Program for students 10-18 years old.​​​​​​​​

Ebony Gilbert
Founder & CEO
Television writer, playwright, and author Ebony Gilbert began her career writing weekly articles about ​minority youth for the Miami Herald. After receiving her MFA in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount ​University, she co-wrote and directed the award-winning play Complex[ion] Woman, and in 2017, Gilbert ​was selected as a Film Independent’s Project Involve Writing Fellow. In 2018, Gilbert was named “Writer ​to Watch” by WeForShe. The following year, she began her writing career in television, working on ​CW’s Batwoman for three seasons before writing and co-producing on an Amazon TV series. Her graphic ​novel, Billie Holiday, was named one of the Best Travel Comics by Book Riot in 2022. Gilbert started her ​company, Dirt-Stained Roses, in hopes of merging community activism with the arts and has awarded ​scholarships to over 20 students. Under her company, she debuted ships a comin and has won numerous ​awards, including Best Animated Short and Best AfroFuturism Award. In 2023, Dirt-Stained Roses debuted the award-winning film ifine, ifine (beauty)—a documentary exploring the skin bleaching epidemic in Sierra Leone, Africa. ​The film won Best Short Documentary at the Pan African Film Festival, Freetong Film Festival, Morehouse Human Rights Film Festival, San Antonio Black International Film Festival, SIMA Awards and was nominated for Best Documentary at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Outstanding Short Doc at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
Kamali Gilbert
Creative Director & Head of Development
Kamali Gilbert grew up in Little Haiti, one of Miami’s most impoverished communities. Fascinated by the ​complexities of his environment, he started documenting it. In 2013, Kamali moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Film and Television. After receiving his degree in Motion Pictures and Television ​Production, he began his work in creative services as a production assistant on BET’s New Edition mini-series, interned at Jesse Collins Entertainment, and produced the award-winning film Kaaway. Kamali expanded his experience to Creative Producer on the stage play Complex[ion] Woman, ​winner of the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival. He has worked at Workshop Creative, Conscious Minds ​Studio, and as Project Manager at Disney-owned Freeform. Kamali’s motivation is visibility in Hollywood ​, especially as it pertains to young black males working as Creative Executives in Film and Television. As ​DSR’s Creative Exec and Head of Development, Kamali hopes to bridge the gap and continue ​producing compelling stories.
Kaliah Beuzard
Branding & Social Media Intern
Kaliah Beuzard is a visionary creative with an unyielding passion for all things artistic. A D.C. native, Kaliah has a keen ​eye for design and has embarked on a journey to ​harness her creativity and transform it into a thriving business. Whether working with a diverse array of ​clients or focusing her energy on a single project, Kaliah continues to evolve and expand her skill sets ​and her portfolio. A Full Sail University student majoring in Graphic Design, Kaliah has joined the DSR ​team under the Internship and Mentorship Initiative Program.
