Our Initiatives
DIRT-STAINED ROSES is committed to community, visibility, and social justice. To serve the community, DSR has launched several initiatives including the DSR Scholarship Program, DSR Internship and Mentorship Initiative, DSR Reading Program, and DSR Screenwriting Program.
DSR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Committed to serving marginalized ​communities, the Dirt-Stained Roses ​Scholarship awards deserving artists ​financial support to further their artistic ​pursuits.​
The Dirt-Stained Roses Scholarship's first recipients were students at Sierra Leone's Adisa Baba Drama Academy. The scholarship supported over 20 students by helping them pay school fees and funding their drama performances.
INTERNSHIP & MENTORSHIP INITIATIVES
The DSR Internship & Mentorship Initiative ​is a collaborative program that ​highlights and fosters the skill sets and ​talents of aspiring professionals. ​Students and recent graduates ages 18-24 gain ​hands-on experience and professional ​development opportunities as they ​build their portfolios.
This five-month-long program selects ​one intern per cycle to work on Dirt-​Stained Roses productions, brand-building projects, and community-based initiatives.
DSR READING
PROGRAM
DSR Reading Program delivers books to underserved communities and organizations committed to students and their literacy journeys.
The first organization Dirt-Stained Roses Productions has partnered with is Kachem Young Initiatives (KYI) based in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. This non-profit organization builds and commissions libraries in communities affected by war and poverty. DSR has delivered over 200 books to support KYI and help change the lives of young girls, boys, and people with disabilities.
SCREENWRITING ​PROGRAM
The Dirt-Stained Roses Screenwriting ​Program teaches students the ​fundamentals of screenwriting and ​helps them develop their first scripts.
The program also runs script contests ​judged by professional and award-winning screenwriters, producers, and ​directors.
DSR COMMUNITY OUTREACH
DSR Community Outreach is an initiative dedicated to identifying organizations that are supporting the needs of disenfranchised communities. DSR partners with groups, individuals, and causes aligned with our commitment to social justice. We help with food, clothes, and essential needs donations, school supplies, community cleanups, tutoring, career training, and connecting individuals with resources for financial, mental, and physical health.
